Trust win Silver Award for work with veterans

Hull Kingston Rovers Community Trust are proud recipients of a Defence Employers Recognition Scheme Silver Award in recognition of their work with ex-military service personnel and their families.

The Trust’s Learn with the Robins scheme, which receives funding from the Hull Military Covenant, provides support to veterans and their families who are unemployed and struggling to find work.

Over the last 18 months the Trust has worked with a number of veterans who have then moved into sustainable, long-term employment. Part of this work includes promoting ex-forces personnel to employers including the Humber Training Group and Buildforce and also encouraging veterans to become involved in the Trust’s many other projects as participants or volunteers.

Helen Schofield, Trust Manager, said: “We are both proud and delighted to receive the ERS Silver Award for the work we undertake with ex-military personnel and their families.

“Hull KR and the Community Trust are committed to supporting veterans who are struggling to find work and to receive such recognition is humbling. It is a testament to the hard work that the Learn with the Robins team do. The funding through the Hull Military Covenant has been invaluable as it has enabled us to continue to provide this support for a further 12 months.”
